Now, a lot has changed since Wilde’s time in the hotel and we’re pretty sure that you’ll find our current wallpaper is to die for. “This wallpaper and I are fighting a duel to the death. The poet took up residence in the hotel at the end of the 19th century and lived at L'Hotel until his death, famously claiming to 'live above his means'.ĭuring his time in Paris, the hotel was known as Hotel d’Alsace and one of our favourite little nuggets of wit comes from Wilde’s last words in the hotel before he passed away. We’ve welcomed the likes of Salvador Dali, Princess Grace, Frank Sinatra and Elizabeth Taylor over the course of the last century, but our most prominent resident has to be the late Oscar Wilde. For almost 200 years, L’Hotel has been the place to be seen in Paris. ![]()
